MEMBERSHIP:
Membership is open to everyone. We have two types of membership.
DAILY MEMBER: The cost is £20.00 per year, plus £3.00 each time you play.
In-house competitions - £2.00 entry fee per competition plus £3.00 each time you play.
League matches - Daily Members are eligible to play in league matches. The same £3.00 fee applies.
Any Daily Member can upgrade to Full Member if they feel it would be cost effective for them.
FULL MEMBER: The cost is £70.00 per year but all roll-ups and in-house matches are free.
In-house competitions - £2.00 entry fee per competition. No charge for playing.
League matches - No charge if playing at home, £3.00 if playing away.
OPENING TIMES:
Monday to Saturday from 1.00pm till 4.00pm
Tuesday & Thursday from 6.00pm till 9.00pm
Other times and Sundays by arrangement.
All opening times are weather dependent.
CLUBHOUSE
Our clubhouse is open to members whenever the green is open. There is always tea or coffee available. There is a changing room and lockers available and separate toilets.
AFFILIATION:
New Herrington Bowling Club is affiliated to Bowls England, affiliation number 10055.
We are affiliated to Durham Bowls and play in the District 3 leagues.
DISABLED ACCESS:
Unfortunately access to the clubhouse would be impossible for wheelchair users at present. We are in discussion with the council about necessary improvements. Wheelchair users can access the green to watch games in play, we do not have wheelchair access on to the green itself.
WHAT TO WEAR
When playing in a friendly game / roll-up there is no dress code, you can wear whatever is comfortable and weather appropriate.
When playing in league matches all players are required to wear black trousers / shorts / leggings / skirts and our team shirt with the team waterproof jacket if required.
One team shirt is provided free to members, a second shirt will be provided at a cost of £10.00. We ask for £30.00 for the waterproof jacket,
AT ALL TIMES YOU MUST WEAR FLAT SOLED SHOES ON THE GREEN - NO EXCEPTIONS
DO I HAVE TO BOOK:
We do not have an on-line booking facility. There are 6 rinks available and it is very rare that all rinks are being played. It is worth noting that on match days we will play on three or four of the rinks.
We are making rinks 5 & 6 available for birthday parties on Sundays, these must be booked well in advance and you can do so by phone or using the form on the contact page.
LADIES TEAM:
We have a very active ladies section who meet on the green regularly. The ladies can play in league matches and also have their own in-house competitions.
